One of our former colleagues at Kundalini Yoga Club, Sri Devi, has family in Nepal. Her grandparents and aunt are currently facing a very difficult situation following the recent floods, landslides and heavy rain. At the moment, she can't even reach them, because there is no electricity and the network is down in their area.
Her story reminded us that behind every disaster are real people, real families, and people waiting and hoping to hear from the ones they love.
That's why, alongside the practices and prayers of White Light Peace Prayer Day, we are collecting donations for relief efforts supporting people affected by the disaster in Nepal.
Our intention is simple: to take the energy of our collective gathering and let it become practical support for people who need it.
"My grandparents, my aunt, and my uncle's wife and his family are in Nepal. My grandparents and my aunt have lived there for the past 16 years.
When the first flood came, my grandparents were in a fairly safe area, but my aunt was quite close to where it hit. Now, with the second landslides and floods, both my grandparents' and my aunt's areas are affected.
We are not even able to contact them, because the electricity is cut and there is no wifi. We only get one or two messages every three or four days."
Choose any amount that feels right for you. Half of every gift goes to relief efforts for families in Nepal affected by the floods and landslides. The other half helps cover the costs of the gathering. Every gift, however small, is an expression of care.
