A Moment of Stillness in a Noisy World

TATTVAS AND GUNAS MEDITATION

There’s a quiet kind of exhaustion that creeps in when life doesn’t stop asking for more. More attention, more productivity, more response. In the midst of it all, it’s easy to lose touch with something simple but essential—ourselves.

For many, the days feel stretched thin. There’s so much to do, so many roles to play, and often very little space to just be. And yet, beneath the surface, there’s a gentle longing. A wish to feel steady again. Grounded. Real. This kriya offers a way back to that.

It doesn’t push. It doesn’t demand. Instead, it brings us into presence. It works quietly, but deeply—across the body, breath, emotions, and energy. Rooted in yogic tradition, this kriya touches places in us that modern life tends to leave behind.

What It Brings Together

This practice weaves together some of yoga’s most essential teachings, not as abstract ideas, but as living forces within us:

Tattvas (elements): earth for stability, water for flow, fire for transformation, air for movement, and space for openness.

Gunas (qualities): rajas is restlessness, tamas is heaviness, sattva is clarity and balance.

Chakras (energy centres): from the root that grounds us, through the heart that opens us, to the crown that connects us.

Together they remind me that I am not separate or fragmented. All these layers are part of who I am. And in this kriya, they begin to speak to each other again.

The Practice Itself

The movements are simple. You begin with your hands resting at the heart, palms facing down—as if holding your own heart with care. From here, a gentle pelvic rhythm begins. Breathing in through the nose, and out through the mouth, a natural wave forms.

Then comes the inward shift. Pulling the little fingers, whistling the mantra Ardas Bahee, and allowing the mind to grow quiet. It’s not a performance. It’s a return. Each breath, each motion, is a way of saying: I’m here.

Why Try It?

Some ask, “Why this? Why now?”
Because most of us are not looking for more noise. We’re looking for something real. Not something to fix us—but something that meets us as we are.

I didn’t come to this kriya looking for answers. I came because something in me was tired—not tired like “I need sleep,” but tired like a worn-out story I didn’t know how to stop telling.

The first time I practised, nothing dramatic happened. No angels. No fireworks. But something subtle shifted. Like an exhale I didn’t know I was holding. Like a soft yes I’d forgotten how to hear.

It didn’t tell me to be better. It didn’t ask me to fix anything. It simply met me. And for the first time in a long time, that felt like enough.

Over time, things began to change. I wasn’t chasing calm—I just noticed I didn’t flinch as much. My reactions stopped owning me. I began to feel… real. Not performative. Just quietly grounded, like I’d dropped back into the centre of myself.

People talk about “feeling connected” as a vibe. But for me, this kriya made connection feel like gravity. I don’t practise it to relax. I practise it to remember.

Not About Perfection

If your heart has been whispering, this kriya listens. And if you give it space, something in you will answer back.

You don’t need to be a seasoned yogi. You don’t need to “get it right.” This kriya only asks for sincerity. For you to pause, and to show up. Even for just seven minutes. Try it once. See how it feels. If nothing else, it gives you a small space where the world stops spinning for a moment. And sometimes, that’s more than enough.  Let your breath lead you. Let your heart stay open. And slowly, let the “we” in you start to take shape.
