Our mental, spiritual, and physical aspects are all intricately connected, and taking care of all three is crucial for achieving optimal health and well-being. By prioritizing the health of our mind, body, and soul, we can create a balanced, fulfilling life.


In my personal experience, practicing Kundalini Yoga has been transformative in revitalizing my mind and embracing new flows into my life. Through white tantra and Kundalini Yoga, I have learned to listen to my soul and cultivate greater focus and presence in my daily life.


I was inspired to embark on this journey after discovering The Kundalini Yoga Club in The Netherlands and their "Green Diet" challenge. Since then, I have committed to treating my body with the healthy respect it deserves, while also focusing on connecting with my mind and soul along the way. Now, my body is receiving the healthy food intake it deserves, as I am committed to following a green diet and detox plan to support my overall well-being. 


By prioritizing all three aspects of my being, I am experiencing a profound sense of balance, joy, and fulfillment that I never thought possible.

I used to be someone who ate a lot of junk food and fast food, and I never thought twice about the impact it had on my health. But one day, I realized that I was constantly feeling tired, bloated, and unwell. I knew I had to make a change, and that is when I decided to adopt a green diet.


Benefits of a Green Diet

I used to have a major sweet tooth. I would start my day with a sugar-laden breakfast and end it with a bowl of chocolate cereals. My snacks were usually candy bars, cookies, or anything else that satisfied my sugar cravings. I knew it wasn't healthy, but I just couldn't resist. Thanks to the green diet plan and detox, I decided to give up sugar for a week, just to see how it would affect my body and mind. At first, it was difficult. I had cravings, mood swings, and felt sluggish. But after a few days, something started to shift. I found myself feeling more focused and clear-headed throughout the day. I was able to concentrate better at work and felt more productive. I also noticed that my energy levels were more consistent throughout the day. I wasn't experiencing the sugar crashes that used to leave me feeling tired and irritable. I have also lost a few pounds by reducing how much sugar I eat. By incorporating more plant-based foods into my diet, I improved my nutrient intake, lost weight, improved digestion, reduced inflammation, and supported the process of detoxification.

The Duo: Yoga & Green Diet 

Eating a plant-based diet had already helped me to feel better physically and mentally, but when I started incorporating yoga into my daily routine, I felt like I was on top of the world. Yoga helped me to connect with my body, quiet my mind, and release tension and stress. And when paired with a green diet, it was like a match made in heaven. 


I noticed being more present and focused in my yoga practice which slowly developed into a general practice of being present in my daily life. I realized I have more energy and courage to push myself to try new yoga poses and movements, just as I had more energy to engage in new activities with my friends and family. It was as if my mind went from a general stagnant state to me wanting to try out bouldering, meet my friends on a weekday and take piano classes, which I have always wanted to try!


The plant-based foods I eat provide my body with the nutrients it needs to recover and build strength, which allow me to take my yoga practice to the next level. What worked for me was the practice of Kundalini yoga. I began first with this practice at The Kundalini Yoga Club . Working with the energies of the chakras, I felt a deep blockage in my third chakras, the navel point. I used to have issues growing up, always feeling nauseous and constantly tired whenever I would eat something heavy such as meat or anything containing fat. From time to time, I used to experience issues digesting food. After following a green diet plan and continuing engaging fully in Kundalini yoga, now I can feel the energy flowing in my third chackra, and even, the whole body. I feel energised and satisfied after a meal instead of feeling bloated, heavy or nauseous. 


Not only did combining Kundalini yoga with a green diet improve my physical health, but it also had a profound impact on my mental health. I found that I was more centered, calm, and grounded than I had ever been before. My mind felt clearer, and I was able to approach challenges with a newfound sense of confidence and resilience. These were also the magical benefits of practicing Kundalini yoga.

By eating mindfully and savoring each bite, you can learn to appreciate the flavors and textures of your food and make healthier choices when it comes to eating.


Making changes to your lifestyle can be challenging, especially if you're used to certain habits or routines. But once you turn your focus inwards and start treating your body with the love & care it deserves, your body will work with you. 


The synergy between yoga and a green diet is fabulous. I learnt about it only when I signed up for yoga classes at The Kundalini Club in The Netherlands and followed their course/ event of Green Diet. I sensed that together, they were a powerful combination that helped me to feel more balanced, focused, and energized than ever before. I found that I was able to push myself further in my yoga practice, and the green diet provided the fuel and nutrients that my body needed to recover and grow stronger.

Green Diet Recipes & Dishes

Having a green diet plan in place is a good starting point for your journey. You can start it by assessing your current diet, set goals and plan meals for every day. I hope that the following recipes can ease your work of meal planning & preparation. So think of:

- Leafy greens: Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and collard greens are packed with nutrients like vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and calcium. They're also low in calories and high in fiber, making them a great choice for weight management. Try incorporating leafy greens into your diet with a salad or a green smoothie.

- Cruciferous vegetables: Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts are high in fiber and vitamins C and K. They also contain phytonutrients that have been shown to have anti-cancer properties. Try roasting cruciferous vegetables in the oven with a little olive oil and seasoning for a delicious side dish.

- Avocado: Avocado is a great source of healthy fats, fiber, and potassium. It's also rich in antioxidants that can help protect against inflammation and oxidative stress. Try adding avocado to a salad or smoothie, or spreading it on whole-grain toast.

- Green smoothies: Try blending together spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, and apple for a nutrient-packed smoothie.

- Green salads: Try mixing together spinach, arugula, and romaine lettuce with cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

- Green soups: Try making a simple broccoli soup by sautéing onion and garlic in olive oil, adding chopped broccoli, and simmering with vegetable broth until tender. Then blend until smooth and season to taste.

- Meal planning and preparation: Aim for at least 2-3 servings of leafy greens per day, and experiment with different vegetables and recipes to keep things interesting. Preparing meals in advance can also be helpful for staying on track with healthy eating habits. Try batch cooking a large pot of soup or roasted vegetables on the weekend, and portioning them out for easy meals throughout the week.


Maintaining a green diet can certainly come with a price tag, but it is important to consider the long-term benefits that such a diet can provide. While it may seem like a hefty investment  at the moment, the money you spend on a green diet can save you much more in healthcare costs down the line. By fueling your body with nutrient-rich foods, you can reduce your risk of developing chronic health conditions, which can be costly to manage and treat. Moreover, there are ways to make a green diet more affordable. For example, buying produce in season or frozen can be more cost-effective than buying fresh produce out of season. Additionally, cooking meals at home and planning your meals in advance can help you avoid costly takeout and convenience foods.


I created a green diet plan when I embarked on this journey, and included some green diet recipes that made it easy to take on this path.

  • Green smoothie: Blend together 1 cup of spinach, 1 banana, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1 tablespoon honey, and ice cubes. This is a great breakfast option that is packed with nutrients.
  • Green salad: Toss together mixed greens, cucumber, avocado, green beans, and a dressing made from olive oil, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. This is a simple and refreshing lunch or dinner option.
  • Kale chips: Remove the stems from a bunch of kale, tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces, toss with olive oil and sea salt, and bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes. These crunchy chips make a great snack.
  • Quinoa bowl: Cook quinoa according to package instructions, and top with roasted sweet potato, sautéed kale, avocado, and a dressing made from tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. This is a filling and nutritious meal.
  • Green smoothie bowl: Blend together 1 frozen banana, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 1/2 cup spinach, 1/2 cup almond milk, and top with your choice of toppings such as granola, chia seeds, and sliced fruit. This is a fun and delicious breakfast option.
  • Broccoli soup: Sauté onions and garlic in olive oil, add chopped broccoli and vegetable broth, and simmer until the broccoli is tender. Puree the soup in a blender until smooth, and season with salt and pepper. This soup is a comforting and nutritious option for colder days.


These are just a few examples of the many delicious and healthy dishes that you can make with green ingredients. Incorporating more green foods into your diet can help to support your health and well-being, and these recipes are a great place to start. 


When making a green diet plan, it is crucial to think of the time aspect. Timing of eating and drinking is an important factor in ensuring optimal digestion and absorption of nutrients. When it comes to consuming green foods and drinks, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind.

Firstly, it is important to eat slowly and mindfully, allowing time for the body to digest and absorb the nutrients from the food. This can help to reduce bloating, discomfort, and indigestion.

Secondly, it is recommended to consume green foods and drinks earlier in the day, such as during breakfast or lunch, as this can help to support energy levels throughout the day. Green foods are often rich in fiber and other nutrients that can help to regulate blood sugar and prevent energy crashes.

Additionally, it is important to be aware of any medications or supplements that may affect the absorption of nutrients from green foods. For example, iron supplements can reduce the absorption of certain plant-based iron sources, so it may be necessary to space out consumption of these foods and supplements.


By being mindful of when you eat and making small adjustments to your eating habits, you can support your green diet and feel better overall. Remember, it's not just what you eat, but when you eat that can make all the difference.

These are my ground rules that supported my green diet plan:

  • Eat a variety of green foods throughout the day
  • Drink plenty of water: Staying hydrated is important for overall health and digestion, so aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
  • Eat a green breakfast: Starting your day with a green smoothie or green juice can be a great way to energize your body and kickstart your digestion.
  • Snack on green foods: Instead of reaching for processed snacks, try snacking on raw vegetables such as cucumber, celery, and bell pepper with hummus or guacamole.
  • Avoid eating too close to bedtime: Eating a heavy meal too close to bedtime can disrupt your sleep and digestion, so try to finish eating at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.

We benefit from having a magnificent organism that does not work independently from us, it works together with us. It is in our nature to learn to nourish and provide it with the resources it deserves, so that it can support us daily. Just give yourself time to listen to your body and see what works for you and what is worth integrating into your green diet plan. You can feel more energised and happier by incorporating more green foods into your diet, yoga and paying attention to the timing of your meals.
