PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
After a long, grueling day at university, my mind is usually cluttered with a never-ending list of assignments, deadlines, and unfinished tasks. The weight of group projects, looming exams, and the constant pressure to keep up can leave me feeling physically drained and mentally overwhelmed. Could something as straightforward as breathwork and movement truly help me release the stress and tension that seemed to hang over me all the time?
As a fourth-year medical student, I was constantly telling my friends and patients to eat healthy, stay active, and take care of their bodies. But the reality was, between back-to-back lectures, late-night study sessions, and hospital rounds, I rarely had the time to eat properly. I’d find myself nibbling on whatever I could grab between classes or during study breaks—sandwiches from the cafeteria, protein bars, or whatever else was easy and quick. It was a cycle of unhealthy eating habits that left me bloated, sluggish, and feeling far from my best.
By the end of the day, I felt physically heavy, with my stomach constantly distended from all the junk I’d consumed. I knew I wasn’t nourishing my body the way I should, but the pressure of my schedule made it nearly impossible to prioritize proper meals. Feeling trapped in this cycle of stress and poor eating habits, I knew something had to change. That's when I stumbled upon this kriya. At first, I was uncertain, could kriya for navel centre and elimination really help me reset my body, clear my mind, and restore some balance?
At that point, I was willing to try anything to regain some sense of balance, so I decided to give it a go. What I never expected was how deeply this practice would not only rejuvenate my body but also change the way I viewed and navigated my daily life.I remember the first evening I tried it. I came home, dropped my bag at the door, and immediately rolled out my yoga mat in the living room. My energy was sluggish, and my stomach felt bloated from sitting in lectures all day. The thought of sitting still for meditation seemed impossible, but this kriya was different. It was dynamic, active, and had the potential to shift my entire energy system.
I began with the first exercise — the leg lifts. At first, it felt awkward, especially after hours of sitting in class, but as I alternated lifting each leg and bending my knees to my chest with each deep breath, I felt my circulation improve, my digestive system waking up, and the heaviness I’d carried all day start to dissipate. By the time I moved to the Cobra Pose, with the alternate heel kicks, I noticed something even more surprising: I was smiling.
Something in me had shifted. I wasn’t just exercising my body; I was awakening a deep energy within me — my navel center, my power center. Every movement seemed to unlock a new feeling of release, not just physically, but emotionally as well. It was like I was expelling the stress from my day with every breath and every stretch. It felt like my body was literally cleansing itself of the tension, frustration, and exhaustion that had built up.
As I moved through the exercises — from Bow Pose to Spinal Rolls and Baby Pose — I noticed the clarity in my mind begin to grow. I felt lighter, more grounded. The sense of being stuck or overwhelmed by my university life started to lift. I could feel my energy starting to move, rising through my body, almost like a pulse of light flowing upward, reaching into the higher centers of my consciousness.
The most profound change came during the Breath of Fire exercises, like in the Stretch Pose and Locust Pose. As I engaged in the breath and felt my whole body come alive, I realized how deeply connected my mind, body, and spirit truly are. This kriya wasn’t just about physical fitness; it was about emotional release, mental clarity, and spiritual awakening.
When I reached the final exercise — sitting in Easy Pose, arms raised overhead, chanting the mantra Ek Ong Kaar Sat Naam Siree Whaa- Hay Guroo — I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. I had just gone through a physical and emotional detox. My body felt lighter, my mind clearer, and my heart more open. I wasn’t just going through the motions of yoga — I was connecting to something deeper within myself, something I hadn’t felt in months.
The transformation wasn’t immediate — like with any practice, it took consistency. But after a week, I began to notice significant changes. My skin, which had been breaking out from stress, started to clear up. My energy levels surged, even during long study sessions. The anxiety that had once dominated my thoughts was replaced by a steady inner calm. The tensions in my gut that always made me feel sluggish after a day of classes began to dissolve, and my digestion improved. Most importantly, I felt empowered again, grounded in my own energy.
Now, this kriya has become a part of my evening routine. It’s my time to center myself, to release the burdens of the day, and to connect with my deeper self. It has taught me that true health isn’t just about a fit body — it’s about clearing out what no longer serves us, whether it’s physical waste or emotional baggage.
I encourage to try this kriya. It’s not just an exercise; it’s a practice that transforms the mind, body, and soul. Whether you’re battling stress, trying to improve your digestion, or simply seeking a way to feel more balanced and energized after a hectic day, this kriya will help you reconnect with your own power. When you release what’s blocking you, you make space for new energy to flow — and that’s when the magic happens.

The Navel Center is the core of our vital energy, governing our digestive system, metabolism, and the body’s ability to eliminate toxins. In the practice of Kundalini Yoga, the focus on this center can deeply enhance not only physical health but also mental clarity and emotional balance. Our modern sedentary lifestyle, with minimal physical activity, often leads to blockages in the eliminative system, which can cause a buildup of waste and toxins in the body. This can hinder proper nutrient absorption and create a breeding ground for illness. When the main elimination channels are blocked, the body may resort to expelling toxins through the skin, manifesting in conditions like pimples, rashes, and boils.
Enhances Digestive Health: By stimulating the navel center and working through dynamic postures and breathwork, this kriya promotes better digestion and supports detoxification processes in the body.
Stimulates Elimination: The kriya works to open and balance the body's primary channels of elimination, helping to clear accumulated waste and toxins from the digestive tract.
Boosts Energy Flow: By circulating breath energy through the body, this practice activates dormant energy and brings it to the higher centers for spiritual awakening.
Detoxifies the Body: As the waste is eliminated, the body's natural detoxification processes are enhanced, which can help clear the skin and improve overall vitality.
Balances the Navel Center: The navel is the seat of personal power, transformation, and vitality. By strengthening this energy center, you can experience greater self-confidence, mental clarity, and emotional stability.
Promotes Spiritual Growth: Through the final stages of the kriya, energy is raised through the body’s chakras, supporting spiritual elevation and deeper meditation practice.
