PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:

As a 4th-year med student, the relentless grind of studies, exams, and endless clinical rotations can often feel overwhelming. The pressure is constant, and I found myself feeling stressed out and exhausted after long days in the hospital. One evening, while scrolling through YouTube, I stumbled upon a video from the Kundalini Yoga Club that featured a kriya promising to build "endless courage." Intrigued, I decided to give it a try right before sunset.

Initially, the Bear Grip felt a bit odd. I wasn't quite sure if I was executing it correctly, and doubts crept in. However, as I began to rock forward and chant “Har,” something remarkable began to happen. With each movement, I could feel the tension in my body gradually easing. My racing thoughts started to quiet, and I found myself tuning into the rhythm of the movement and the sound of my voice. The chant resonated within me, transforming the chaos of the day into a soothing flow.

By the time the 12 minutes were up, I felt surprisingly light and fearless. It was as if all the stress of medical school had faded into the background, replaced by a sense of clarity and calm. I was still tired from the day’s demands, but it was a peaceful, grounded kind of tiredness—one that felt restorative rather than draining.

Integrating this kriya into my evening routine has been a game-changer, especially during exam periods or intense clinical rotations. With the convenience of online yoga classes, I’ve been able to easily access this practice whenever I need it, making it a vital tool for recharging my energy, not just physically, but mentally as well. The fearless feeling I cultivated during those moments of practice has become a steady companion, giving me the courage to tackle whatever challenges the day throws my way.

Now, I approach my studies and clinical responsibilities with renewed confidence, knowing that I have a powerful practice to lean on. This kriya has not only enhanced my resilience but has also deepened my connection to myself amidst the whirlwind of medical school. Thanks to online yoga, I can continue this transformative practice, ensuring that I stay grounded and centered as I navigate the demands of my education and future career.
